Liposuction

  • 1-2 hours
  • 48 hours
  • 4-6 weeks

Liposuction or liposculpture is the surgery applied to eliminate the accumulation of localized fat (lipodystrophy), in different parts of our body (hips, buttocks, abdomen, arms, calves, etc.). It is important to highlight that liposuction is a technique to reshape the body contour, not to lose weight.

Indicated for...

Women and men from 18 years old, who keep a normal weight, but have accumulations of fat located in some area of their body. It is important that your skin retains a firm and elastic structure, with a good capacity for retraction.

Before surgery

First visit

We carry out a physical examination and a personalized interview.

We analyze your complete medical history

We perform an analysis of the medical condition of:

– Skin and fat tissue in the different areas of your body (face, neck, arms, back, abdomen, waist, hips), thigh fat, internal profile of the knees, thighs and legs).
– We assess the characteristics of each area and the capacity of retraction of the skin (elasticity, turgidity, thickness of the fat tissue, possible irregularities in the contour, presence of cellulite, stretch marks or scars, as well as changes in skin pigmentation).

Conclusions and recommendations

Based on the analysis of your medical history and your motivations, we recommend:
– The most appropriate technique depending on the amount of fat to be extracted.

Type of procedure

Surgery is performed in an operating room with local anesthesia plus sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the type of liposuction that is going to be performed and the areas to be treated. It lasts between 1 and 2 hours, but it can vary (from 30 minutes to several hours) depending on the area and the amount of fat to be treated.

Recovery

The first 24 hours

Patients will keep a semi-compressive strip or sponge in the treated area, following a treatment with intravenous antibiotic and analgesic.

From the second day

Patients will keep the bandage belt placed until the new control, and they can be discharged after the assessment by the plastic surgery team.

From the fourth day

We will remove the bandage belt to check the clinical status and the evolution of the operated areas, as well as the surgical incisions.

From the first week

Stitches will be removed.

From the second week to a month

The bandage belt is compulsory during the first month, day and night, until the control of the specialist.
Once the bruises have disappeared, patients will be able to expose to the sun with sunscreens and a correct hydration of the skin.

Patients can start sport activities (swimming or bicycle) to improve the modeling of the operated areas. To maintain the obtained results it is important to do sports regularly and follow a proper diet.
